Full-time Legal Nurse Consultant

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse
  • 10+ years of combined experience of clinical practice and legal nurse consulting.

Job Description:

  • Completes initial review and liability assessment of case
  • Prepares medical chronologies, timelines and medical record summaries
  • Performs medical literature searches
  • Identifies health care providers
  • Prepares releases and letters to obtain complete medical records, x-rays and tests, and billings
  • Identifies and facilitates reviews by expert witnesses
  • Transcribes handwritten chart/record notes
  • Prepares tables, charts, and graphs of data
  • Prepares case evaluations including causation and damages issues
  • Completes medical research by utilizing personal knowledge, experience, reference library, and internet
  • Defines and interprets medical language, procedures, and hospital/office policies.
  • Locates and prepares demonstrative evidence for trial
  • Assists with educating attorneys and clients regarding relevant medical issues.

Compensation Package:

Legal Assistant

Summary:
The Legal Administrative Assistant supports a team of four defense litigation attorneys.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Assist with preparation and filing of pleadings, motions, memoranda, and discovery

·         Prepare, proof and send client communication

·         Responsible for file and document management

·         Scheduling for Attorneys including travel

·         Calendaring case deadlines, court dates, meetings, depositions, etc.

·         Organizing depositions including setting and cleaning up conference rooms

·         E-filing

·         Preparing/submitting attorneys’ expense reports

·         Electronic dictation

·         Rotational back-up for Receptionist

The Ideal Candidate has:
·         2 – 3 years of litigation legal administrative assistant experience with insurance defense exposure

·         Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail

·         Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment

·         Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of firm personnel and outside clients and vendors

·         Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.

·         Excellent grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills as well as the ability to produce a high volume of documents with tight deadlines.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Ability to work within a team environment

·         Ability to prioritize work deadlines

·         Typing Skills: 55+ wpm

Education and/or Experience:

·         2 – 3 years of litigation legal administrative assistant experience with insurance defense exposure

·         Associate or Bachelor Degree Preferred
